about wire leads.
- what's a wire lead here?
- a length of UL1007 hook-up wire with nothing on it but its ends: each end is left bare, crimped into a ferrule, or crimped into a ring terminal. there's no connector housing — for one of those, see the connector-to-ferrules pages.
- can the two ends be different?
- yes. end A and end B are chosen separately: a ferrule on one end and a ring terminal on the other, a ferrule on one end and bare on the other, or the same on both. at least one end has to be ferruled or ring-terminated.
- which gauges take which ends?
- ferrules fit every gauge we offer here (18, 20, 22, 24 AWG). ring terminals cover 18–22 AWG; at 24 AWG it's ferrules only.
- can I order just one?
- yes, there's no minimum quantity, but there is a $40 order minimum. one 20 AWG wire, 12 in (305 mm), with a ferrule on each end, comes to $4.22, so an order of just that is $40. at 10 it's $4.01 each and 50 it's $3.80 each. shipping is free (UPS 2-day).
- how many wires, and how long?
- 1 to 10 wires per bundle, all the same length, anything in 5–48 in (127–1219 mm). every wire in a bundle gets the same treatment on each end, and prices are per bundle.
- how fast does it ship?
- wire leads are built and shipped in 5 business days, then go out UPS 2-day.
