- the ferrule follows the wire gauge, and its collar color is McMaster-Carr's, not a standard color code: 20 AWG takes orange (7950K161). the prices above are at 20 AWG, so orange.
- can I put ferrules on only some of the leads?
- yes. the prices above put one on every lead. in the configurator's rewire panel each loose lead is either a plain flying lead or "flying lead + ferrule", and you pay only for the ferrules you use.
- how is each end made?
- both ends are crimped: the Deutsch DTM contacts with Deutsch's own specified tooling, and a ferrule on each loose lead.
- can the connector end be a plug instead?
- yes, on the sizes where we stock the plug (2-pin, 4-pin, 6-pin, 8-pin, 12-pin). the prices above are for the receptacle; switch the gender in the configurator and it reprices.
