which ferrule goes on which wire?
the ferrule follows the wire gauge, and its collar color is McMaster-Carr's, not a standard color code: 18 AWG takes red (7950K71), 20 AWG takes orange (7950K161), 22 AWG takes gray (7950K14), 24 AWG takes aqua (7950K45). it's applied automatically; there's no ferrule to pick.
ferrule on one end, or both?
either. the other end can be a ferrule too, bare, or a ring terminal (18–22 AWG only). the prices above have a ferrule on both ends.
can I order just one?
yes, there's no minimum quantity, but there is a $40 order minimum. one 18 AWG wire, 12 in (305 mm), with a ferrule on each end, comes to $4.52, so an order of just that is $40. at 10 it's $4.29 each and 50 it's $4.07 each. shipping is free (UPS 2-day).
